The National Guard arrives at St. Joseph’s
Hospitals are overwhelmed, nursing homes are short staffed, tornadoes devastate communities… Who is Always Ready, Always There? The National Guard.
The National Guard work one weekend a month and two weeks in the summer, training and preparing to meet the needs of their country. Recently, that need came from St. Joseph’s Home. A request was made and an email went out.
Staff Sgt. Hunter Clark, Sgt. Donte Lewis, PFC Melora Carnes and PFC Michael Browning responded, “Yes” to spend two weeks doing whatever job was needed, from peeling potatoes, cleaning floors, moving furniture, washing dishes to stuffing envelopes, these bright, hard-working soldiers volunteered yet again.
For many, this assignment came on the heels of having served at Kentucky hospitals, to ease staffing shortages as a result of the recent spike in Omicron cases.
