George Hauck has been a friend and volunteer at St. Joseph’s Home since 1962. In those early days, he would come with his wife, Jean, and their two lovely daughters, Karen and Lynn, every Sunday and help serve dinner. After the meal was over, George would roll up his sleeves and wash dishes while his sweet family cleared the tables.
Today you will still find George in the Home on Sunday evenings, visiting with the Residents, sharing his stories with a laugh and a smile. He and his family remain faithful volunteers, selling dinner tickets at both the Turtle Derby and Holiday Festival. If you happen to bring up George’s name in front of any of the Little Sisters you will get a heartfelt smile, and they will tell you he is a very special man who captures the spirit of St. Joseph’s Home and our beloved Foundress, St. Jeanne Jugan.
A very Happy Birthday to you, George, and many more to come!
Happy 96th Birthday, George!!
