Turtle Tales by roving reporter Mortimer Sneed

  • April 9, 2013

(Turtle At Large)

Two Turtle Doves a Bakin’!

Two Ladies + Two Months = Over 200 loaves of specialty breads, 50 fruit pies, 40 cobblers, yeast rolls, party mix and candy and fudge and more candy … all for the bake sale at this year’s Turtle Derby! What an awesome equation! Now not to worry, the breads are flash frozen to ensure their yummy freshness and the pies and cobblers are baked the weekend of the event.

Who are these two kitchen wizards? … Mary Ann and Theresa, who have lent their culinary skills to the Little Sisters for the past 15 and 6 years respectively. Mary Ann and Theresa will be working the Bake Sale booth as well. So be sure and stop by for dessert after enjoying a scrumptious chicken dinner. They may even share a baking secret or two!!

This is also a perfect time to pick up your Derby Baskets for your upcoming Kentucky Derby guests; they will be available at the Bake Sale.

All proceeds from the Bake Sale and the Turtle Derby benefit the Residents of St. Joseph’s Home.

Sounds like a “Turtleriffic” Good Time!!
