The Little Sisters of the Poor’s Bus was loaded to capacity last week as the Residents and the Little Sisters headed out for the hour long drive to Bardstown, KY to visit the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto – Cathedral. They felt the “Spirit” was defiantly among them after listening to Fr. Hammer’s inspiring homily. The treat of the morning was the participation of the third graders, their parents, grandparents and friends at the Liturgy.
Mass was followed by a delicious lunch with Fr. Hammer at Susie Q’s Restaurant. The homemade food and charming atmosphere was capped off when the owner brought out generous servings, fresh from the oven, of bread pudding!
The Little Sisters and Residents received this gracious greeting after returning to the Home from Fr. Bill Hammer:
It was such an honor for us to be able to host everyone here at St. Joe’s, the children were happy to have “guests” today, it gave them some added focus and energy to their Mass since they always want to impress. And it gave me a delightful late morning and early afternoon to be with you all and to share Mass and lunch. You all are always welcome here at St. Joe’s, you are family, and I am always at your service.
Fr. Bill
What a Blessing!
