Church Unity Week

  • January 23, 2015

During the week of Church Unity Week, the Little Sisters held a prayer service and invited many of the neighboring churches.  Fr. John Judie, who presided over the service, wrote this prayer as a way of showing our unity in Christ.

Creator God, as we gather today for this time of prayer and reflection, help us create a web of life.  This is the time to let go of the crazy notion that we can live separate and aloof from one another.  Help us to understand that we can and should create a web of life out of which every single one of us can use everything our own stories have given us. Let every encounter be a homecoming as we step forward now for the healing of our world.  This world is not going to be saved by good people or noble people.  This world is going to be healed by ordinary people—people who are not afraid of pain and who are not afraid to love each other.  Help us to share your love with all those we encounter in this life.  Enable us to work with your grace to renew the face of the earth.  These things we ask through Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.
