This summer has been very busy at St. Joseph’s Home. In July we held our 10th Annual State Fair for the Residents. This popular event is a favorite among the Residents, volunteers and staff alike. Early in the week it is all about Midway fun. Residents enjoyed playing games and dining on “fair food”, such as corn dogs, cotton candy, lemonade and fudge. Later in the week it’s State Fair animals and contests. This year’s attractions were baby rabbits, a chicken, a duck, a pony and a lama! The “Fair Bears” always join in on the fun and the fair would not be complete without a conversation with our 15ft Freddie Farm Bureau Jr. The activities department and volunteers do an amazing job of bringing the State Fair home to the Residents of St. Joseph’s Home.
The State Fair was barely packed away before the Residents headed over to Holy Family Catholic Church and enjoyed the Little Sisters Annual Dessert and Card Party. At this event each table picks the game they would like to play. This fundraiser comes with delicious baked good to sample there or take home, shopping a Grandma’s Attic and of course several hours of companionship and card playing.
St Joseph’s Home closed out the summer with a day of golfing. This year was the 22nd Annual Golf Scramble Classic held at Woodhaven Country Club. The event included lunch, a day of golf in perfect weather, contests, dinner, silent and live auctions.
