A Holy Door at St. Joseph’s

  • March 9, 2016

In honor of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, local churches throughout the world will open Holy Doors as a place for pilgrims and penitents to pass through as a gesture of leaving the past behind and crossing the threshold from sin to grace, from slavery to freedom, and from darkness to light. On March 9, Very Reverend Mark Spalding, commissioned by Pope Francis as Missionary of Mercy, was asked by Archbishop Joseph Kurtz to bless the glass door leading into the Home’s Chapel as “A Holy Door.” Father Spalding led a day of prayer with a reflective talk followed by Reconciliation and Mass.
