“Kentucky fried chicken and Derby Races” was the theme of the day for May 1, 2010. Our friends from AJJ had worked with the Residents, prior to the event, to design and make glamorous homemade derby hats for everyone. Our Residents came dressed in their best derby-wear for their special event today – all sporting colorful hats. The auditorium was decorated for the event with a huge painting of My Old Kentucky Home, a big screen TV for viewing the races, and wooden racehorses to put everyone in the Derby mood. The Residents had all chosen their favorite horses and were ready for a day of fun. Kentucky fried chicken and delicious sides were provided for the Resident’s dining pleasure – to continue the Kentucky theme. Seven of our Residents had drawn the winning horse, Super Saver, and celebrated the victory with joy and excitement!
